PERFORMANCE COACHING

At BeeConectar we lean on multiple theories and perspectives from various school of thoughts including psychology, sport science, teaching and life coaching to help athletes, coaches and support staff reach their goals and perform at their optimal best.

We focus on three pillars, wellbeing, team dynamics, and mental game coaching. We believe that all three pillars are essential in becoming a thriving athlete or team. Hence we take both a team and individual athlete approach, recognising the unique qualities of individual athletes and teams.

No athlete is the same and no team is as another.

Wellbeing

Sport can be experienced as a space where the only things that matters are sponsorships and winning. At BeeConectar we place the person before the athlete or coach. In other words, you as a person, come first. It is important to separate your identity from your performance. We promote living a balanced life, acknowledging family life, values, and personal interest outside of professional sport. We explore mental, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. We believe that a happy and balanced athlete will produce optimal results both at training and in performances. Our wellbeing and counselling services are provided by registered counsellors and we are well connected with other professionals should the need for a referral occur.

Team Dynamics

It is important to recognize the playing team (those going on the field of play - athletes) and the coaches and support staff often referred to as the team behind the team. Exploring the dynamics of both teams and equipping team members with the needed tools to reach a healthy team dynamic and team cohesion is a pivotal element to success. At BeeConectar we unpack areas such as group formation, team culture, professionalism, and personalities, among others.

Mental Game Coaching

It is not always the most talented or skilled athlete that becomes the world best as put by Thomas Jefferson, "Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." Your mental game is as important as your talent and skill. We thus assist technical coaches in developing well-rounded athletes. Our mental game coaching focus on mental toughness, "The ability to consistently perform towards the upper range of your talent and skill regardless of the competitive circumstances." - James E. Loehr (Performance Psychologist), and mental technique such as focus and concentration, dealing with performance pressure and being able to reach a flow state or playing in the zone.

TESTIMONIALS

Although I was hesitant at first, the time and effort that I put in with my performance coach had many benefits. Being an athlete is not just about being in a good physical condition but also in a good mental condition when faced with different pressure situations. The way in which I managed high pressure situation improved to such an extent that I started looking forward to them rather than fearing them.

Doc Bee has helped and supported me during the last hurdle of my rugby career. She helped me dig deeper into what type of rugby player I am and also finding my sense of value and belonging within that space. Her work together with the counsellors at BeeConectar helped me to be in the best mental space to be able to perform well during trainings as well as on match days.

I lost my mother and the grieve process really hit home. I was happy to be able to have a chat with Coach Bee and enter into a counselling process. The process had a huge impact, emotionally and mentally. I learnt to cope with the passing of my mother. I regained my focus and self believe and my confidence was boosted to be able to perform at the highest level. I even received a nomination for try of the year by World Rugby. As a team, I believe that the performance coaching workshops facilitated better unity, and a healthier team culture.
